Welcome to Universal Hydraulik

SMM Hamburg 7.-10. September 2010

Universal Hydraulik GmbH is exhibiting for the first time and will display its products and special features for shipbuilding, or the offshore market. You will find us in Hall A2, Stand A2.023. We would be delighted to have the opportunity to talk to you at our stand.

Our Marine-Applications:

The following marine and offshore applications are just a few applications for which Universal Hydraulik GmbH supplies heat exchangers:

  • Propeller drive
  • jet drives
  • transverse thrusters
  • Gearboxes
  • Compressors
  • Deck applications, e.g. rope winches
  • High-pressure applications for oil rigs
  • Side stabilisers

tl_files/images/news/new.jpg Hybrid cooling system

Universal Hydraulik GmbH synonymous with heat exchangers with fins.

This heat exchanger is a type of "hybrid cooling system", combining the advantages of plate heat exchangers with the benefits of shell & tube heat exchangers. The design of this cooler can be as compact as a plate exchanger as it has a greatly enlarged heat exchange surface on the oil side. This is achieved by fins (plates) which are routed over the water tubes, forming a metallic bond with these tubes.

It also retains the advantages of the shell & tube heat exchanger on the water side, as the large, smooth pipes keep it almost entirely clean, whereas the ribbed design of the plate heat exchanger tends to attract dirt and get clogged up. What is more, this type of cooling system is also easy to clean in comparison with a plate heat exchanger.

Further advantages include its greater compressive strength and the unique opportunity to build in an internal non-return valve.

Biggest size of ECM-Coolers (ECFM-2460-F-CN for ship building)

New collaboration for Universal Hydraulik with Partner
API Heat Transfer (Basco)

This collaboration opens up several new opportunities:tl_files/images/news/api.jpg

Extended product portfolio:
Fin coolers and special large coolers Shell & Tube Technology

Global production: API in USA and China; Universal Hydraulik in Germany and the Czech Republic

Global distribution: API in USA and Asia; Universal Hydraulik in Europe, Africa and the Middle East

We can now supply fin coolers of 2 to 2000 kW (flow rate: 2 to 2500 l/min).

Electrical oil pre-heater EDH

Starting up plant and machines from cold is considerably easier when the oil in the tank has been pre-heated to a set minimum temperature. Adding a electric-flow heater in a bypass coolerfilter system solves the problem of pre-heating the oil and prevents damage to the hydraulic system caused by excessive start-up pressure. Conversely, a heating rod built into the tank has the disadvantage that the oil volume in the tank is not clearly defined as it flows around the heating rod.

With the electric oil pre-heater the oil flow is controlled and the heating capacity can thus be calculated and controlled precisely.

Quality commitment

Universal Hydraulik GmbH committed to supreme quality standards in the cooler manufacturing market

The shell & tube heat exchangers made in our own production facilities in the Czech Republic are subject to an in-process testing sequence comprising five different steps before being delivered. Starting with the tube inspection (measurement of wall thickness) right through to the final leak test on the entire cooling system, these tests generate rejects which we feel are better scrapped in our factory, sparing our customers the inconvenience of receiving faulty parts which have to be scrapped.

One of the expansion tests involves subjecting the coolers to 180 bar on the water side which puts the material under enormous stress and constitutes a test step which is without parallel elsewhere in the market.

Time and time again, the feedback from our customers confirms their satisfaction with the high quality and reliability of our cooling systems.

tl_files/images/news/new.jpg ATEX-approved oil supply system

Designed for stationary operation for the cooling and filtering of gear oils.
Universal Hydraulik GmbH now also develops and builds oil supply systems which can be used in potentially explosive environments. The systems comply with ATEX Directive 94/9/EC dated 23.03.1994 for machine group II, category 2. They can be used in zones 1 and 2.

Germanische Lloyd approval

UKM series now approved for Germanische Lloyd.

This approval is often required for marine applications involving sea-water. The heat exchangers are then custom-made to certain specifications, a process which impacts on the delivery time and selling price. These heat exchangers can be inspected by a GL tester on request and issued with an individual certificate.
